These adorable Snowman Christmas Ornaments made from white plastic spoons are a fun and easy DIY Christmas craft for kids to make with adult supervision.

Kids will enjoy making these homemade snowmen and hanging the ornaments on their Christmas Trees. 

Also, the DIY snowman ornaments would make a beautiful gift for kids to craft for their teachers, grandparents, and even the mail carrier.

Not only are these snowman ornaments adorable, but they’re budget friendly.
 
They would make the perfect project for teachers to make with their classroom as a  winter craft.
 
NOTE- For younger kids you can always leave off the twig arms. Also you can use scrap pieces of material for the scarfs instead of felt.

Also, kids could make many different snowmen wearing different color hats and gloves.
 
They can even make a Snowgirl with a bow instead of a winter cap. 
 
Just print out the Snowman printable below and let your kids cut out their favorite color hat, bow, and gloves.

Originally I made the snowman ornament craft on my blog with my son in 2014. We used plastic spoons and different color felt. 
 
I decided to update the post and the snowman ornament craft. After my son complained about using felt for the snowman nose and buttons.
 
We’re happy to inform you we have a cute Snowman printable for you to print out for your kids.

The snowman printable has gloves, bows, winter caps, eyes, buttons, and carrot noses.
 
 

What you need for Snowman Christmas Ornaments

  • White Plastic Spoons
  • Black Permanent Marker
  • Felt
  • Snowman Printable
  • Cardstock
  • Twigs or Toothpicks
  • Craft Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ribbon

How to make snowman christmas Ornaments 

First, to make the Snowman Christmas Ornaments you’ll need to download and print out the Snowman printable on cardstock. 
 
 
Second, have a child cut out the snowman eyes, nose, buttons, and other snowman items.

Third, let your child glue the eyes, nose, and hat onto the spoon using craft glue. You can purchase white party spoons from the Dollar Tree or just about anywhere. 
 
Next, let a parent or older child dot on the (coal) mouth with a black marker.
 
Fourth, take a piece of felt and cut out a scarf for the snowman. Additionally, you could make fringes for the scarf.
 
Next, use craft glue to adhere the scarf to the snowman or an adult can use a glue gun.

Fifth glue on the snowman twig arms and the gloves. Refer to the photo below. I glued the twigs onto the snowman spoon for my son with hot glue. 

Notes– glue the twigs on the backside of the spoon. Position the arms the way you want them. If you use toothpicks instead of twigs cut the pointed ends off.

Last but not least, make a hanger for the snowman ornament craft with a piece of ribbon. 

Have an adult make a loop with ribbon, then glue it to the backside of the spoon at the top with hot glue.

Isn’t the Snowman Christmas Ornaments cute? They’re such an easy craft project for Christmas. And, so inexpensive to make! 
 
You can find the felt at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels for under 80 cents, and the spoons come in a package of 48 for a $1 at the Dollar Tree.  
 
Also, you could use a paint marker to write a child’s name on the back of the snowman spoon as a keepsake.
